Biocell is recalling its Allergan breast implants and tissue expanders due to a risk of Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). BIA-ALCL is currently recorded to occur in roughly .03% of patients. If you have no symptoms, the FDA is not at this time recommending to remove the implants. However, if you experience any symptoms or are worried that you may develop symptoms, the FDA advises patients to speak with their health care providers immediately.
BIOCELL® started the recall campaign in July of 2019. However, because 52,000 breast implant units have not been appropriately tracked, the company is making every effort to boost its campaign reach.
If you have received implants or tissue expanders and do not know which brand was used during the procedure, you can find helpful information about Allergan BIOCELL textured implants here. You may also call the surgeon’s office where the procedure was performed and ask them to check their records to find out the implant brands they use for their patients.
BIA-ALCL can be a serious condition and could be life-threatening, especially if not discovered and treated early. If you or a loved one has developed symptoms of BIA-ALCL, call your doctor immediately, then call the Bailey Law Firm. As a Personal Injury Attorney in Texas, Blake Bailey has dedicated the past 40 years to fighting for his clients and acquiring for them the restitution they deserve.
